TRANSFORMATION GENERATION

wonder | discovery | passion

V | 1.0  | WONDER.DISCOVERY.PASSION

TG desires to… incite WONDER in the heart of a student in such a way that compels him or her to DISCOVER who they are and their PASSION for influencing others.

To do this we use xp3 from the reThink Group

*  What is XP3?

XP3 stands for “eXPerience 3.” We believe that there are three things that every student should
experience in student ministry (and in life)—three things they must have in order for them to have a
personal, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. Those three things are wonder, discovery and passion.

* WONDER |
Every one of us has a desire to marvel. We are looking for something to amaze us, something
to incite wonder. There’s a generation of students growing up in today’s church who somehow miss the
wonder of who God really is and believe that He isn’t big enough for their experiences.

* DISCOVERY | Every person is wired for adventure. We are curious from the womb. We want to explore,
to see something we have never seen, something that helps us understand new things about ourselves.
Many students today never make the discovery of who they are in light of God’s truth, and many feel that
He isn’t relevant to their lives.

* PASSION | Every one of us longs to make a connection, to make a difference, to have intimacy, romance,
companionship. Many students today fail to engage in a God-given passion to become involved in the
lives of others. They don’t feel He is real enough for their relationships.

These three things ultimately affect everything we do. They pull at our hearts, drive our behavior and
capture our imagination. They are the levers our culture pulls to move us emotionally—to appeal to
our souls.

We are all going to give our hearts to something—good or bad—to experience wonder, discovery and
passion. At TG, we passionately believe in helping students discover these three principles in the
context of their personal relationship with God in a way that demonstrates their own authentic, growing
relationship with Him.

Every thing we do/create/promote/teach/discuss will use one, two or all three of these elements so that students move beyond information about God to an actual experience with Him—one that incites wonder, discovery and passion.

* Going Deeper…

V | 2.0 |  THE JOURNEY OF DISCIPLESHIP IN COMMUNITY FOR THE WORLD

Jesus' adolescence is summed up in one verse:

        "Jesus grew in wisdom [mentally] and stature [physically],
                                  and in favor with God [spiritually] and people [socially]"  *  Luke 2:52

TRANSFORMATION.GENERATION seeks to help junior and senior high students do just that by living out "discipleship in community for the world."

What does this look like?  TG aims to partner with parents in teaching students about Jesus Christ, helping them develop their personal relationship with Him, and preparing them to be mature members and future contributors of the Kingdom of God.  Students are a vital part of the body of Christ and have an important part to play in the Gospel of Jesus.  Our hope is that by shaping today's youth we build tomorrow's culture - one that reflects the character and beauty of Jesus.

At Transformation.Generation and Calvary Chapel Seattle we realize that God uses different kinds of ministries and churches to reach and serve different kinds of people, and so we focus our energies to fulfill the mission to which we feel God has called us to do.  The following is a list of the core foundations of this ministry.

1. Have Life To The Full
Throughout the Bible, God expresses his desire for us to lead a rich and vibrant life, to experience true peace, to have "Life to the Full". Jesus described his mission in exactly these terms: "My purpose is to give life in all its fullness" (John 10:10).   We believe that there are many ways to live your life, but that the only way to truly experience life at its best is to live it the way God intended.  This is why we seek to follow the way of Christ.

2. We Welcome People
From the very beginning, we have felt called by God to be an accepting, welcoming community. Whatever your background, wherever you are in your spiritual journey, we hope you will feel accepted and loved as you progress in your spiritual journey.

3. Dynamic Christian Community
For us, youth group or church is more than services and programs. At heart, it is a community of people. At TG, we want our community to be dynamic and alive, not static or stagnant, and so we value and encourage innovation, creativity, freedom, thought, dialogue, diversity, and lifelong spiritual exploration and growth. We are unapologetically a Christian community, rooted in the historic Christian faith, guided by the Bible, and learning to be vibrant followers of Jesus Christ.

4. To Connect - With God
The story of the Bible is the story of God passionately pursuing a personal connection with each of us. We want to set aside time and space to explore, enter, and deepen this connection with God. We want every person to experience an authentic personal relationship with God, a relationship that leads to "life to the full."

5. To Connect - With One Another
In our hectic world, people often feel disconnected from one another. We believe that this loss of community causes us all to miss out on the rich, meaningful and caring relationships that God wants us to enjoy with one another. That's why we invest time and energy in developing deepening relationships with one another through small groups, social activities, and projects and ministries carried out in teams. We want to help people connect across racial, educational, cultural, and generational lines, to experience genuine friendship.

6. To Connect - With Opportunities To Make A Difference In Our Changing World
We want to share Jesus' message of hope with the world through word and action. We don't want to exist for our own spiritual enrichment alone or to isolate ourselves from the needy world around us. We want to make a difference in our world with Christ's love in several ways - through our friendships, our compassionate action, and through our communicating of God's message in a relevant and authentic way.
